Wokingham Counselling & Psychotherapy with Liz McLaren
Compass PALE.png

About me

Psychotherapy is a five year training and required me to see a therapist myself, so I know what it feels like to be a client.

My academic training was important as a foundation but what I value more is the relationship with clients.

Qualifications

I hold an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy from the Metanoia Institute in London, which is affiliated to Middlesex University.  I hold previous qualifications in social work and teaching.

Accredidations

I am a Registered Practitioner/Accredited Therapist with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and an affiliated member of the Metanoia Institute.

Experience

I work as a counsellor, psychotherapist, supervisor and facilitator and tutor.

I have over twenty years experience in counselling and psychotherapy and spent nineteen years working in a Hospice in the Thames Valley.

I receive referrals from a number of sources including general practitioners.

Code of ethics

I adhere to the UKCP Ethics for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Continuing professional development

I continue to train each year so that I keep myself up to date.  I am currently part of a group developing trainings around power and oppression, and a peer reading group to enable continued curiosity and challenge to ideas.
